Free History Resource Kit from the Union Pacific Railroad! {Freebie Friday}

We just ordered up a few sets for our house and YOU can TOO!

Get a FREE Resource Kit from the Union Pacific Railroad. All educators welcome (homeschoolers too!)

The Union Pacific Railroad is celebrating 150 years and since their history is so entwined with US history, they’ve created a wonderful resource kit that they’d like to share with teachers all over the country. You can order up to 10 kits!

Developed by the Union Pacific Railroad Museum, the resource kit includes:

  • 10 Andrew Russell stereo card reproductions from the Union Pacific collection;
  • A plastic stereo card viewer to experience the 3-D effect;
  • Materials in textbook-style reading;
  • Suggested additional student reading and informational websites;
  • A foldout poster depicting the iconic photograph of the completion of the transcontinental railroad.

Educators can order a teacher’s resource kit by submitting an online request form.

For more Union Pacific history, visit the company’s 150th anniversary timeline.

Visit the Timeline online for a beautiful experience.

I’ve enjoyed spending about the last hour going through all the information.  It’s all VERY well done and they aren’t shy about sharing darker moments in their own history.

One kit should be good for a homeschool family? Or do you need one for each student?

    The kit has a viewer and cards to view in it, among other things… The limit is 10 per teacher for a classroom, which I suppose allows students to work in small groups. So it’s up to you and what you think your family wants/needs, how many children you have that will be using it and what your family dynamic is like. If you have two children who tend to bicker about things, I would consider ordering 2. If you have 8 kids who get along really well and share easily, maybe order 2 or 3 sets… 🙂 It’s all up to you.
