Do you struggle to add  meaningful science studies to your homeschool?  Maybe science isn’t your strongest subject.  Maybe you feel like there should be more to it all than just watching the wildlife in your backyard?

E-Science just might be the answer you are looking for!

ScienceChalkBoard

Right now, until Thursday, May 16th, the amazing folks as Supercharged Science have open enrollment for their summer science e-camp.  It’s really affordable, especially since you enroll your family, not individual children!  And she offers two options: You can pay in full up front or you can pay in three very easy to manage installments!

I just enrolled our family for the first time and I’m so excited about it.  But here’s the cool part.  When I enrolled in the Summer Science E-Camp, she came up with a special bonus offer that I couldn’t pass up.  We pre-enrolled for the Fall E-Science without having to pay anything now…  We won’t actually pay anything until September, but she gave us access to the whole e-science program right away!

We immediately started watching her really fun videos and my kids were all crowded around, joining in with her and interacting with her (my kids are 2nd graders, but it’s great for K through 8!).  I love that she made everything easy to understand without dumbing it down.  My kids were learning some amazing things, and tomorrow we’ll be jumping into some impressive experiments.

I’m a picky momma…  I don’t let my kids waste time on fluffy curriculum.  This is full of real, useful science content that relates directly to the world around us and how it all works.  Kids are encouraged to ask and answer their own questions using the scientific method and to apply those skills to other areas of their life.  LOVE that!

If you want to enroll in the Summer Science E-Camp, you’ll need to hurry!  Enrollment only lasts through this Thursday, May 16th!  It is SO much fun already and SO worth the small investment for your whole family!  Click here to learn more!

Fun With MyMemories

I’ve recently been given the opportunity to try out a bit of scrapbooking software so I can share my opinions with you.  I’ve only had a few minutes to play with it, but my mind is running away with the possibilities that this software, and all the goodies that come with it, presents for families.

First, take a look at this, which I created in the few minutes it took my baby to fall asleep next to me on the couch.

Sisterly Love Page-001 LRG

These are my little muses.  The children who inspire all those printables you see at the store all the time!  Aren’t they cute?

Now, you know that I love to play with graphics.  And I can be a little bit of a perfectionist when it comes to layouts.  I’m fussy about the software I use and I’m in the habit of using some very expensive software to create my works.  So when I saw how inexpensive this software is, I was very skeptical.  But ladies and gentlemen, I can tell you with  no hesitation that this software is robust enough to please even my picky graphic sense of perfectionism.

What I Love:

There are layouts that come with this software (and tons more that you can add on later!) which make it literally a snap to build a full scrap book in a matter of minutes.  All you do is load the layout, drag and drop your pictures into it and print!

Of course, that’s NOT what I did above.  Because the MyMemories software makes it simple for perfectionist like me to build a page from scratch.  Or tinker around with one already built.  Everything is neatly arranged through intuitive menus and most of the commands I’m used to using in my much more expensive software are either the same or easy to find.  Putting the layout together above took me under 5 minutes, while I was trying not to nudge the baby resting against my arm.  Imagine what I could have done unencumbered! Smile

What I Would Change:

I can’t say there’s much about this program that I don’t like.  They seem to have thought of everything!

Interested in your own copy of the software?

I have a coupon for you!  Use the coupon code below to get

I have some free things to give you, thanks to the folks over at MyMemories.  You do not have to own the software to use the following free craftable sets.  Any software that can use images will be able to take advantage of the following digital papers and embellishments.  And you don’t have to use them for the craft they present!  I used the Valentine set below to create that cute layout above.  Fun! Smile

Oh… And I don’t have just ONE freebie.  I have THREE for you!! (But you have to get them by Monday, January 28th, 2013)

I hope you enjoy these freebies and let me know if you have any questions about the software before you purchase.  I’m happy to help!

Time 4 Learning – My review

First, I’d like to let you know that Time4Learning.com provided my family with a one month free trial in exchange for this review. However this review, and all of it’s opinions, are completely mine. Okay. Ready?

First, I’d like to say: WOW. My kids loved it. They asked repeatedly for “Computer Lab” time, as they call it. They loved the variety of games that went on and they frequently spent time afterwards discussing the games. “Did you get to play the one where the little bugs went swimming?”, “Oh, yeah.. That one was so fun!” Stuff like that :)

I loved the variety of topics covered and that the games were so varied. The kids would seriously never be bored. And if I had a day where we couldn’t get to anything else, honestly, I think I could plunk them down at the computer, pull up time4learning.com and let them have at it.

Truly, my only disappointment was the monthly price after the free trial. For my three children to enjoy it, I would have to pay about $50/month. That’s fifty dollars every month. They were deeply disappointed when I told them that we couldn’t afford to continue. I wish they had a family plan or something like some other sites do. Or maybe a special plan for homeschoolers who are very often on a really tight budget when it comes to making curriculum choices.

Otherwise, it’s seriously worth checking out. And did you know that you can get a time4learning.com free trial too, if you have a blog? Go on over to their site and check it out!
